Jay å €ç”°ç§€æ¨¹ grew up in Los Angeles as a 2nd generation Japanese-American with a craving for outdoor sports. He moved up to Portland for his B.A. Environmental Studies degree at Lewis & Clark College and is a lucky college grad as of May 2018! Although the real reasons he chose Portland may be the mountains and Blue Star Donuts… In the past, he has worked in national parks and forests from Wyoming to Washington, Alaska and Oregon. He is a proud alum of the National Park Service Academy, which aims to diversify the NPS’ workforce, and strongly believes that outdoor spaces are for all folks. He enjoys his current job at the U.S. Forest Service connecting city folks to the good outdoor life.
Jay is absolutely stoked to contribute to OA’s service to the APIA community; he is especially excited to expose city dwellers to the adventures in and out of the city environment. On weekends, you can find him SUPing the Willamette River, surfing the coast, hiking Mt. Hood, or (most likely) doing his favorite outdoor activity: eating.
